Are you AV Rated?

Did you know that only 10% of Attorneys are AV rated?

However, a large percentage of [FLN - Members] are already AV Rated, so read below on how you too can join this elite group of AV Rated attorneys.

The gold standard in attorney ratings:

Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ recognize lawyers for their strong legal ability and high ethical standards. Individuals seeking legal counsel, as well as attorneys looking to refer a colleague, use these ratings to identify, evaluate and select the most appropriate lawyer. An elite group of approximately 10 percent of all attorneys holds an AV Preeminent Rating, a designation trusted worldwide by buyers and referrers of legal services.

Martindale-Hubbell facilitates peer and client reviews to expand law firms’ marketing capability. We provide a trusted online forum for individuals, businesses and professional colleagues to promote their credentials before a wide audience, including prospects that can’t be reached in other ways. Our peer and client reviews are user-friendly and make a distinctive, compelling statement across the web, maximizing your firm’s online marketing potential.

How to become AV Rated?

1. Go to lawyers.com to make sure your profile is complete and current;

2. Create a list of 20 to 25 attorneys that can vouch for your talents, abilities, and experience. If you do not have at least 20 attorneys, then be sure to connect with other attorneys early and often. Try not to include attorneys that don't really know you, as they will not likely participate in the "peer review" process;

4. Once you submit your name for consideration, be sure to notify the attorneys on your list so they can be ready to quickly and actively participate;

If done correctly, it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to receive your results. The process could be delayed if the if the attorneys you select do not actively participate, so be sure to include attorneys that know how to use and reply to emails.

Once you are ready to begin, click on the link below to learn more:

Once you review the required information on their website, you can submit your name to begin the review process, and then you will receive a personal email with some of the details below.

We allow at least two weeks for references to submit their reviews. We will contact you with a status update after two weeks, and continue to monitor the results. When enough responses have been received to meet the Peer Review Ratings threshold, we will contact you with the result.

We recommend that attorneys contact their references after sending them to us so they are looking for the survey email. Please advise your references that if they have any questions about the survey or dont believe they received our email, they can contact us directly for assistance at 800-526-4902 or ratings@martindale.com.

You may revisit this link at any time to submit additional names. However, any time additional names are submitted, a new or updated rating will not be awarded for at least two weeks.

Other Helpful Hints:

1. Try using first and last names only when searching. If its a common name you may also want to add the State to narrow the results.

2. Do not hit the Submit button until you are comfortable with your list of references. You will be able to add additional names after submitting, but will not be able to remove any reference.

3. Search results should appear within a few seconds; however searches for common names or in larger states may take longer depending upon the number of results.
